Fallout 76 Bug of the Day

Nov. 27, 2018

Welcome to the Fallout 76 Bug of the Day! The newest daily entries will always be posted at the top of this article. Also, any bugs that have been addressed by Bethesda will be noted.

Let's just be honest... F76 has a lot of bugs. With previous games by Bethesda Game Studios (Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 4), fan modding efforts would produce so-called "Unofficial Patches" that fixed literally hundreds if not thousands of bugs of all types: placement issues, item issues, character issues, stat issues, spelling and grammar issues, quest bugs, texture problems, and much, much more.

Unfortunately, because F76 is an online multiplayer game, there is unlikely to be an "Unofficial Patch" because the game will always be changing, and also because modifying the game's files is not allowed.

As such, similar to how I would submit detailed bug reports to the "Unofficial Patch" teams in the past, I will now post as many bugs as possible that I find in F76, with the hope that Bethesda will fix them. In my opinion, and I don't know why they didn't do this already, they should really be hiring the notable fans who lead the "Unofficial Patch" efforts.

Holotapes needs to be in Voice, not Effects. Holotapes are 99% dialogue so it's a logical match. They're too quiet in Effects if you want to reduce the loud volume of gunshots.

My C.A.M.P. vanished without notice. I guess someone had my spot. I canít re-place because it claims itís floating. Solution: If my spot is taken, donít pack it up, just put me in a different World!

With only 24 players per World, that's a LOT of Worlds. So how hard is it to just pick a World for me where my C.A.M.P. spot is available? Being unable to place a stored C.A.M.P. is quite a problem.

UPDATE: On November 27th, Bethesda announced that part of this problem would be addressed in an upcoming December 11th patch: "Your C.A.M.P. will no longer be automatically blueprinted and stored if someone is occupying your location when you log into a server. Instead, youíll receive a notification that your space is occupied. If you decide to find a new home for your C.A.M.P. on that server, it will be free to do so. However, if you donít attempt to place down your C.A.M.P., you will be able to switch to a new server where that spot is vacant and your C.A.M.P. will be fully assembled and waiting for you."

(1) A Camp Fire can be placed within a Sleeping Bag. (2) A Sleeping Bag can be placed floating directly above a Camp Fire.

When there's zero visibility at a Lookout due to fog, you shouldn't be able to "Survey Area." Also, "Survey Area" isn't explained in the game's Help menu or anywhere else.

Every time I Quit, whether to Desktop or exiting to the Main Menu first, Fallout 76 quits with a crash and creates a dump file, which I've been deleting - do you need these?

(1) These wind chimes aren't attached to anything, they're just floating in the air! (2) While editing this area, move this utility pole that's in the way of taking a great photo!

When you start the game, the Workshop won't recognize your Stash - because the game hasn't loaded it yet. Look at your Stash - only then does the game load it and the Workshop will recognize it.
